Uploading and Deleting Documents

On the documents page within a workspace, a workspace administrator can manage documents, including uploading and deleting files. This section outlines supported and unsupported file types for Blackout, provides step-by-step instructions for uploading documents, and details how to delete single or multiple documents from a workspace.

Blackout supports the following document types for upload and redaction.

Blackout supports the following Excel versions and spreadsheet file formats:

Supported Excel Versions

  • Excel 95
  • Excel 95/97
  • Excel 97
  • Excel 2003

Supported Spreadsheet Formats

  • XLS
  • XLSX
  • XLSM
  • XLSB
  • CSV
  • TSV

Blackout does not support the following versions and file types:

  • Excel 5.0 and Excel documents created in earlier versions of Excel

 

Uploading Documents


Before You Begin

  • Only five documents can be uploaded at a time via the 'Upload Files' modal
  • A file cannot exceed 10 MB

How to Upload Documents

  1. After navigating to a workspace, click the Upload File button in the top-right corner. An upload menu will appear.

  2. Drag and drop your files from your file explorer, or click Select Files to open your file explorer and choose the files to upload.

  3. The selected files will populate a list, showing their file names and sizes. This will allow you to confirm the files before finalizing the upload. If a file needs to be deleted from the upload list, click the icon to the right of the file name.

  4. Click Upload Documents. A message will appear in the top-right corner, confirming the upload was successful. Once complete, a message will appear to confirm that the documents have been uploaded.

Your documents are now ready for review!

 

Deleting Documents


Before You Begin

  • Single or multiple documents can be selected at one time
  • All documents in the list can be selected by clicking the checkbox in the top right of the 'Documents' row.

How to Delete Documents

  1. After navigating to a workspace, select the documents to delete by checking the boxes to the left of the document list.

  2. Click Delete Documents in the top-right corner

  3. A message will appear confirming that the document(s) should be deleted. The message will include the file names of the document(s) to be deleted and any productions in which the document(s) are included. 

    Note: deleted documents will be removed from the workspace, but will remain in existing, already completed Productions.

  4. After confirming that the document(s) should be deleted, click Delete. A message will appear in the top-right corner, confirming that the documents were deleted.
